This collection is open for research, though the contents of the Performance Recordings series can only be accessed for research purposes with the authorization of appropriate employees from the Freed Center for the Performing Arts/ONU Theatre Department.
Note: In compliance with University Policy 6.1 if the user is affiliated with a media organization, or if the intended outcome for archival work is create a product that wil be featured by the media, then the user should first contact ONU's Communication and Marketing Office to coordinate their archival research/media request.

Organizational History
The Freed Center for the Performing Arts was founded in 1991, and has been closely aligned with the Departments of Communication Arts and Theatre. In addition to supporting the academic mission of the university, the center is focused on providing an opportunity for the campus and surrounding communities to engage with performing arts, visual arts, and other cultural programming.

Additional records include administrative records including annual reports, policies, and attendance data.

Processing Information
The collection was processed in support of the creation of a preliminary public finding aid in 2022. During processing it was decided to maintain promotional materials for events administered by other university units (for example the Department of English) that were held in the Freed Center as a part of the Freed Center records. It is posisble that similar/identical records can be found in other archival collections at ONU.
