Administrative History
Driven largely by members of the Black Student Union, the Office of Multicultural Development (OMD) was established in 1991 and was originally housed McIntosh Center. Throughout its history, OMD has sought to lead the campus community in a celebration of diversity through academic and social programming while concurrently supporting the activities and members of various student organizations.
The office led efforts to create the first university administered Multicultural Center in 1995. Since its founding, the Multicultural Center has shifted locations multiple times, including existing at two different converted residences on S. Union St, the Lehr-Kennedy House, and Affinity Commons.
